head of hair

“k OH s uh”
Croatian to English

Welcome to Kosa Salon SF, a sanctuary of luxury nestled at the intersection of Fillmore and Union Streets in the vibrant Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco. Surrounded by an array of shopping and dining options, Kosa is set against a backdrop of charming Victorian architecture and modern amenities. Union Street flows through Cow Hollow as it’s bustling commercial corridor, connecting it to nearby neighborhoods like Pacific Heights and the Marina District.

Kosa, meaning “head of hair” in Croatian, honors the legacy of founders Alexa Nelson, Monique Ginocchio, and Jessica Allen’s great-grandfather, Antone Zietich. Over 100 years ago, he emigrated from Croatia to San Francisco and purchased the building on Fillmore with just 40 gold coins at the age of 23. This spirit of entrepreneurship continues to inspire the salon’s mission today.

Since July 2025, Kosa has been proudly owned and operated by local entrepreneurs Jen Betti and Kopal Maheshwari. The salon features an exceptional team of talented stylists, renowned for their artistry in luxury hair transformations. Clients can immerse themselves in a soothing, spa-like atmosphere designed for rejuvenation and relaxation, allowing creativity and passion to flourish.
